As for composition, I'm not sure what should be done with that.
On one hand, I like the way the snow leads the eye down into the valley. On the other hand, I would really like to see more of that amazing sky!
I think a good compromise would have been to place the camera lower and angle it up more, with the result hopefully being that you still get the snow in the shot as well as more of the sky.
Although, that may just be a stylistic preference of mine.
Great shot, and for the record it definitely makes me jealous that you're getting to hike around in the Sierras!
