Moonlight Falls by narmansk8 Moonlight Falls by narmansk8
Moonlight Falls in the High Sierras.

Because of a very stormy June there is so much water in the Sierra backcountry which means 3 things:

1. The waterfalls are absolutely fantastic right now
2. The wildflowers are better than I have ever seen
3. MOSQUITOS. Like you couldnt even imagine! It is pure torture back there right now!

But I would brave that miserable hike through billions of mosquitos any day to get shots like this.

Nolan, you suck, and you suck really hard too, I hate you.

Now that being said, dude honestly, this is one of your damn best shots and should be a textbook shot for a cover shot of Outdoor Photographer. Honestly man....you nailed this, like crazy mad!

So I am going to nit pick this hardcore like =jayshree on a street corner! lol (Wait she is in Puerto Rico isn't she lol We'll show her when she is back...better bring us all back some Rum too, to drink in the APN chat!)

The waterfall is a tad hot, you know what though, I could care less, I like it. Slight glow from "What's a Polarizer" in the sky...ya know what though? I could care less,I like it.

Seriously Nolan, I don't know what to tell ya, it is utterly smoking hot....really butt kickin'. Now go drink some more beer damn it!
What do you think?

composition is utterly fantastic. my only complaint is the light balance. i feel it would be even more powerful if the right was dark and the waterfall area (left) was brighter to bring more focus to it. but man this image is amazing .... great job man, seriously!

The sunlit area on the mountains seems a tad too saturated but otherwise phenomenal shot here, excellent work.

Also, ever heard of bug spray?

You have EVERYTHING in this image. The closeup flowers of all shapes and sizes. The cool, crisp waterfall flowing strongly to the left. And last but not least, the rugged mountain peak catching the last of the sun's rays off to the right. All of these things on their own are classic landscape subjects. I think the only other thing you could possibly wish for in a single frame would be a mighty storm as a backdrop, but the stunning blue of the sky isn't much of a letdown either. ;)

The only thing I'd watch out for are the blacks towards the top of your image. I know the ND makes it all but impossible to get away with that, but the top of the waterfall is nearly pitch black and that kinda bugs me (I'm guilty of this, too). Maybe a slight tilt of the ND would have relieved some of that darkness. Anyway, nitpicking aside, this is seriously an image to be proud of. Definitely one for the portfolio. :)
